Ocean Flaws have dropped a summer bop - Zoo Doo Magic - the video for which sees their frontman drenched in a slurry of ketchup, milkshake, ice cream, and pickle juice.
The single heralds the release of Ocean Flaws’ four-track, debut EP. Delivered to fans as a deconstructed work, each song is due to be dropped four weeks after the last - the first (Zoo Doo Magic) being released Friday 5th August and the last, Friday 4th November.
The band’s aim for 2022 is to ride the airwaves, from summer to winter - and they will even be popping up in Colours, Hoxton, on Friday 14th October, for a headline show to showcase their latest material.
At the end of this musical bonanza, a special edition physical will be made available via Ocean Flaws’ online store - enabling fans to listen to their debut EP from start to finish, in high fidelity.
As if it was needed, UK saxophone royal, Andrew Ross - who boasts features with the likes of Amy Winehouse and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds - adds some extra sauce to this release. Stick around for his Springsteen-esque solo at the end of Zoo Doo Magic!
"These are ones to watch out for."
John Kennedy, Radio X
“If you haven't heard of them, go check them out now.”
Steve Lamacq, BBC Radio 6
"One of the most exciting indie bands emerging from the UK right now."
Emma Harrison, Clash Magazine
“The best new concept band about.”
Jake Peach, BBC Introducing in Essex
“Indie and its sub genres is a busy place …yet Ocean Flaws have created something instantly recognisable. This is just the beginning for this fledgling indie outfit - they’ve got mainstage written in their future.”
Kieran Webber, Clunk Magazine
"The warm guitar tones, tropical drum toms and psychedelic synths suggest they're looking to headline the likes of Reading & Leeds in the next five years!"
Fred Bambridge, It's All Indie
"Don't quit your day jobs."
Anton Newcombe, Brian Jonestown Massacre

Zoo Doo Magic Lyrics
VERSE
The future has been sold
Zoo Doo Magic chews, I’m told
It barrels through your town
Growing round the bend, they’re found
BRIDGE
Pausing, just for emphasis
Truthful, with parenthesis
Charming ways to move your lips
Does it save your soul?
CHORUS
You’re too slow
Even with the meeting you’re back there still grinning through it all
Oh no, can your doctor spin this one at all?
VERSE
There’s wool in my eyes this year
A well-trodden primrose path behind me
Hoodwinked by the fear
If anything changes, please remind me
BRIDGE
There’s a crater down in my hometown
I read it in a hotel room
Unchained malady, life kills easily
CHORUS
You’re too slow
Even with the meeting you’re back there still grinning through it all
Oh no, can your doctor spin this one at all?
(Repeat)
OUTRO
If I flee there, will you be there?
Can we find a place to hide away?
(Repeat)
Biography
With their blend of 80s pop, from the likes of Tears for Fears, and textured alt rock, Ocean Flaws have been heralded by the British press as one of the most exciting unsigned bands emerging from the circuit today.
On the back of their debut single, Deep Sea Dreaming, Ocean Flaws were named one of John Kennedy’s “Hot Ones”, on Radio X’s Xposure show.
Following a string of sold-out shows on London’s live circuit, including a support slot with Oasis’ own Andy Bell, Ocean Flaws released their sophomore single – Spirit Level. The track garnered airplay from Radio X, BBC Introducing, and even landed a spot on SiriusXM host, Eric Alper’s official Spotify playlist.
The band’s third single, Touching Down, showcased a more introspective side to the group, and secured debut airplay on BBC Radio 6 – as well as a place in the Unsigned Guide’s independent music blog.
Subsequent releases, including the alternative iTunes chart-topper, Hologram; Karmageddon; and Keep It Cool have been lauded by national radio and indie blogs, alike.
Following a headline slot on BBC Introducing’s tour of Essex, and much anticipation, the band is releasing their debut EP, Zoo Doo Magic.
